The package includes a trip along the east coast of Salento with a visit to Otranto, “The door of the East”. The tour will take you from the powerful Aragonese Castle through the alleys of the old city center to the “Martyrs of Otranto Cathedral”, where you can admire the mosaic of Pantaleone, a crypt of the 11th century and the “relics of the Saints”. The visit will end with a dinner in a characteristic Masseria which dates back to the 11th century as well. Hike along the west coast visiting Gallipoli, known as the “Pearl of the Ionian”, located on a small island linked to the mainland by a 17th-century bridge. The itinerary starts from the ancient “Fontana Ellenica” and on to the imposing “Castle Angioino” along the narrow streets of the old town with visit to the “Cathedral of Sant’Agata”, one of the biggest art galleries in Italy. The dinner will take place in a restaurant built on a rock with a beautiful sea view. Furthermore, you will get the chance to visit the historic center of Lecce, called the “Florence of the South” for its generosity of palaces and churches in Lecce Baroque style. From the “Basilica of Santa Croce” you will proceed towards St. Oronzo Square to admire the Roman Amphitheatre. Crossing the ancient course “Vittorio Emanuele II” you will arrive in “Piazza Duomo”. The visit will end in a traditional restaurant.
